It’s Cochise County all the time lately! I hope I can do my part and finish this darned book.
Check out today’s VARIETY:
Harrison Ford is attached to portray Wyatt Earp in a feature adaptation of “Black Hats: A Novel of Wyatt Earp and Al Capone.”
Project’s produced by Thunder Road topper Basil Iwanyk and Jason Netter of Kickstart Prods. along with Rodrigo Teixeira and Fernando Loureiro of Brazil-based RT Features, which is funding development.
The novel, published in 2007, pits Wyatt Earp against Al Capone during the 1920s with Earp being commissioned by Doc Holliday’s widow to go to New York, where Doc’s son owns a speakeasy — which is menaced by a young Al Capone.
Kurt Johnstad (“300”) will write the adaptation of the novel, which was penned by the prolific Max Allan Collins (“Road to Perdition”) under the pen name Patrick Culhane.
Iwanyk’s in production on the “Clash of the Titans” sequel. Netter and Neal Moritz recently set up “The Red Star” at Warner Bros., picking up feature rights to the fantasy comic book series out of turnaround from Universal.
Ford stars in “Cowboys & Aliens,” which opens next weekend with a premiere Saturday night at Comic-Con.
Ford is repped by UTA.
