Wednesday was the second annual Tea, where Ellen Chesler led a student panel on a discussion on CEDAW (look it up) and we hosted a group of wonderful Macaulay friends, faculty, and staff.

Nothing prepared me for the explosion of energy that hit me when I came back to Macaulay on Friday night. ? Art, photography, sculpture, film, performance….three floors of Macaulay rocked with talent.? This was the biggest student-run event yet, and yet it is probably just a hint of great things to come.

Congrats to the campus curators! to the student artists!? to Solita Alexander and Macaulay staffers!

(As you’ve probably already noticed, I have a TERRIBLE memory, so if you see me struggling with your name, it doesn’t mean that I don’t remember you!? I’ve always wished I could borrow one of those presidential advance people who always whispers the right name…or else a great memory.)

Last night, I went to a wonderful exhibition of Pierre Bonnard’s paintings at the Met.? Ran into two Macaulay students there….it took a second to figure out why we looked familiar to each other, but of course, Macaulay students are to be found in all the best New York places!

I visited with the founders of the program as well as its current administrators.? Watch out…I am coming back with a lot of newfangled ideas about senior theses and core curriculum!

Not accidentally, I am also here to see the current installation of “Letters to Sala,” the exhibit based on the letters that my mother saved from Nazi slave labor camps.? Thanks to a nice article in the Austin Statesman, we had an excellent turnout today.
